Model The network licensing model is based on client/server architecture, where licenses are placed on a centralized system in the subnet. The Esteem network dongle is attached to the server computer (which could also serve as the client computer). The server computer manages and allocates licenses to the Windows computer that is connected to the same network.
The standalone dongle model is based on software protection dongle that is used to protect and control access to the software. This device, often referred to as a standalone dongle, is connected to a computer's USB port and contains the license details for a specific version of an application.
The cloud licensing model is based on the client/server architecture. In this model, the client sends a request to a server for data, which is processed on the third-party server side. Cloud-based software licensing involves managing and storing software licenses in the cloud, where the client interacts with the server to check out a license.

Client Machine

The computers that run the Esteem software are called clients. When a licensed software is started on the client, it sends a request for a license across the network to the license server (that has the Esteem network dongle attached to it). The license server grants the request if possible and returns an authorization message back to the client.



A client machine of a standalone dongle license refers to a computer that uses a Esteem application licensed through a standalone, which is connected to the computer through its USB port. In this setup, the dongle acts as a hardware key that authenticates the software license, allowing the software to run only when the dongle is plugged into the client machine's USB port.

Esteem Standalone dongle license can be locked either to a Disk ID or to a Computer ID key through a Esteem dongle. In the case the license is locked to a Esteem dongle, the dongle and the license can be moved to another Windows computer

15-Day Emergency Cloud License: As a contingency plan, this temporary license ensures uninterrupted access to Esteem software in case your company encounters issues with its Esteem dongle(s). When necessary, license duration will be extended based on the severity of the issue or unexpected delays in resolution.

Yes, with some limitations depending on your license type as outline in Esteem End-User License Agreement:



  • Standalone Dongle and Cloud Subscription Licenses: You may install Esteem on up to three (3) computers. However, the license allows use on only one computer at a time.  If you’ve already installed Esteem on three machines and wish to use it on another, you'll need to first deactivate and uninstall it from one of the existing computers before installing it on the new one. 

  • Network Dongle License: Esteem can be installed on up to ten (10) computers. Usage limitations are the same—only one active use at a time is permitted per license.
